About the Instructor

He was exposed to the arts from an early age, belonged to the drama club in junior high school, loved the stage, and moved to Tokyo to become an actor. While studying theater, she discovered flamenco and began dancing in 1998. He traveled to the West repeatedly and studied with a number of Spanish artists.

Fascinated by the unique rhythm of flamenco as well as the beauty and sound of the Spanish language, while a student at Ritsumeikan University, he participated in the National Student Spanish Speech Contest on the theme of flamenco, winning second place and a special award. He obtained a B2 in the DELE Spanish Proficiency Test.

Since 2004, he has continued to study flamenco while studying abroad in Argentina as a Japanese teacher as a JICA volunteer and later at the National Autonomous University of Mexico as a scholarship student. Won first prize at the 20th Latin American Dance Competition. After returning to Japan in 2008, he began teaching at Almadeflamenco Kyoto. After becoming independent in 2011, she hosted the Yoko Fukushima Flamenco Studio Recital Live every year.   
She is currently a mother of two children. While raising children, she performs as a flamenco singer at various live performances and events.

#### Start of activity

1998

Starting with flamenco, he has repeatedly traveled to the West since 2001 to study with a number of Spanish artists.

#### JICA's Nikkei Youth Volunteers

2004

For two years from 2004, he was dispatched to Argentina under JICA's Nikkei Youth Volunteer Program, where he taught Japanese at a Nikkei school and belonged to the "Danzana" dance troupe of the Posadas Spanish Association, where he participated in numerous flamenco events.

2005

In 2004, he won first prize in the Senior Solo Flamenco category at the 2nd Posadas Dance Festival.

#### Latin American Dance Competition, Awards

2005

In 2005, she danced flamenco in the professional category of the 20th Latin American Dance Competition and won first place.

#### Government-sponsored study abroad in Mexico

2008

From 2007, she studied flamenco with Carmen Amaja's nieces, Mercedes Amaja and Karime Amaja, while studying at the National Autonomous University of Mexico through a scholarship program called the Japan-Mexico Exchange Program. He also participates in events.

From January 2009 to December 2010, he was a lecturer at Alma de Flamenco Kyoto and Osaka, and made regular appearances at the tablao "Biernes Flamenco".

When the Kyoto school closed in January 2011, she became independent and launched Yoko Fukushima Flamenco Studio.

#### Flamenco Cante

2012

She started her career as a singer in 2012. He has performed at numerous events and tablaos mainly in the Kansai region.
